Glow & Grace: What I’ve Learned About Skincare and Self-Care in My 40s

A few years ago, I looked in the mirror and didn’t quite recognize the woman staring back. It wasn’t just the faint lines forming around my eyes or the way my skin didn’t bounce back the way it used to—it was that I looked... tired. Not just physically, but emotionally drained from giving so much of myself to everyone else.

As a mom, I’ve spent years putting my kids first. I’ve stayed up late packing lunches, running to rehearsals, worrying over fevers, and being that steady presence they could always count on. But somewhere along the way, I forgot that I need care too. I didn’t want to admit it, but my skin had changed—drier, duller, less firm. My glow was fading, and it wasn’t just about vanity—it felt like I was disappearing a little.

So I started to change a few things. Not a 10-step routine or an expensive spa regimen—just little daily rituals that honored my skin, my body, and my time.

Here’s what made a real difference for me:

1. Collagen Supplements
I started taking a high-quality collagen supplement daily. I didn’t expect miracles, but within weeks, my skin felt more hydrated and my face looked... softer. Not younger exactly, but supported—like my skin had structure again. It was one of the simplest things I added, and I’ll never go without it now.

2. A Skincare Routine That Works With My Life
I don’t have time for anything fussy. What I needed were products that delivered results without slowing me down.

  • On days when I looked extra dull, I’d use the Collagen 100 Melting Mask. It was my 15-minute reset—hydrating, firming, and giving me that fresh glow again.

  • Calming Balance Gel helped soothe irritation (especially on stressful days), while Active Cream EX became my overnight recovery plan.

  • And when I had to be out the door fast, the Luminous Glow Cushion saved me. It gave my skin that natural brightness, without looking heavy or cakey.

3. Support From the Inside Out
I also started using Omega-3s from Zinzino and Lifening's Collagen Ampoule.  I’d read about their benefits for inflammation and skin health, but it wasn’t until I made them part of my daily routine that I noticed my skin looked calmer, less reactive. Less puffy in the mornings, too.

Motherhood Changes Us—But We Don’t Have to Lose Ourselves

I’ve learned that taking care of my skin isn’t just about looking good—it's about showing up for myself. When I feel good in my skin, I move differently. I smile more. I show up better for my kids, my partner, my business, and myself.

So this Mother’s Day, I’m giving myself—and every mom I know—permission to care. To pause. To glow again.

Because we’re still here. And we’re still worthy of feeling radiant.
